The short version: we only collect what we need to send you the newsletter and get prizes to winners, we never sell it, and you can leave at any time.
Who we are
Black Cat Mysteries is a cozy mystery newsletter and website. If you have any questions about your information, email hello@blackcatmysteries.co.uk.
What we collect
- Your email address when you sign up to the newsletter, plus anything else you choose to give us on the form.
- Your name and postal address, only if you win a physical prize, so we can post it to you.
- Anything you send us, such as an email, a review, or a photo of a book you've found.
What we use it for
- Sending you the newsletter, which you've asked for and can stop at any time.
- Running our giveaways, contacting winners and posting prizes.
- Sharing reviews and found-book photos, only when you've told us that's OK, and only with your first name and town (or anonymously, if that's what you chose).
- Replying to you.
Who else sees it
We never sell or give away your details. We use a small number of trusted services to run things:
- MailerLite stores our subscriber list and sends the newsletter.
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
- Royal Mail sees a winner's name and address on the parcel label.
- Google Forms stores the reviews sent through our "Share your verdict" page.
When you click "Get it on Amazon", you leave our site and Amazon's own privacy policy applies. We may earn a small commission if you buy something, at no extra cost to you.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe. A winner's postal address is deleted once their prize has arrived.
Cookies and your browser
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Some of the fun bits of the site, like your sleuth number, are remembered in your own browser. They never leave your device, and clearing your browser data removes them.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every newsletter. You can also ask us to show you, correct or delete anything we hold about you. Just email hello@blackcatmysteries.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
