Giveaway terms

The small print, in plain English. Our giveaways are free to enter. You never have to buy anything.

Who can enter: anyone aged 18 or over. One entry per person.
How to enter: be subscribed to the Black Cat Mysteries newsletter by 11.59pm (UK time) on Saturday 31 October 2026. If you're already subscribed, you're already in.
Two separate draws, depending on where you live:
- UK residents are entered to win our Halloween Bundle: a set of three J.M. Hall mysteries (A Spoonful of Murder, A Pen Dipped in Poison and A Clock Stopped Dead), a pumpkin mug, pumpkin spice tea lights, a plush black cat and a few more cozy surprises.
- Everyone outside the UK is entered to win a $25 Amazon gift card (or the nearest equivalent on your local Amazon site), sent by email.
The draw: one winner for each prize, picked at random from everyone who's eligible, on Sunday 1 November 2026.
Winners: we'll email you within 7 days of the draw. Please reply within 14 days (with your postal address, if you've won the Bundle). If we don't hear back, we'll draw someone else.
The prizes: there's no cash alternative. If an item in the Bundle becomes unavailable, we'll swap it for something similar of equal or greater value. The Bundle is posted free to UK addresses, usually within 14 days of us receiving your address.

Who can enter: UK residents aged 18 or over who are subscribed to the newsletter at the time of the draw. There's nothing else to do.
The prize: one book hand-picked from a charity shop, plus a bookmark and a little something extra. These are second-hand books, so they may show a bit of love from previous readers.
When: each month's book is revealed in the newsletter on the first Friday of the month. One winner is picked at random on the last Friday of that same month and announced in that week's newsletter.
Winners: we'll email you, and please reply with your postal address within 14 days. If we don't hear back, we'll draw someone else. Postage to UK addresses is free.
We may change or pause the First Friday Find from time to time. We'll always say so in the newsletter first.

Unsubscribing before a draw means you won't be in it.
With your permission, we'd love to share your first name and town when we announce you as a winner. If you'd rather we didn't, just tell us. If anyone asks, we must be able to confirm the winner's surname and county, unless you object.
